Album : First Time Round
Predict the Future by Creating the Future
Dom Gannon started his Debut Album, First Time Round, in about 2002. It all started from an idea that we could choose our own destiny. Having heard this many times before it took a long time realise it was true. The Choices we make fill our life with whatever we thought of last. If we thought we had no money, we would have no money. If we thought we never get the right job, we never get the right job. It is that simple. In order to change the future, we need to change the way of thinking about the world and about how we see ourselves in it.
The next thing to remember was how to Be Grateful for what you do have. If you can’t cherish the little things each day, like a good cup of coffee, the sounds of birds, the ability to be warm when it’s cold. Really get back to the basics you take for granted and be really grateful you have them by thinking what it would be like without coffee, or a jumper to keep you warm. There are so many in this world without these things. Think about that..
The next songs were more for the sad period of losing people. the Duchess And The Crown, Wait and See and Miss You were all written about loss. The hardest songs to write are the one’s that hit close to home, yet, these are the one’s that people connect with most. it is that whole “car crash scneario” where you slow down to see the blood. We have a tendency to want drama for some reason. Who knows…
First Time Round, or, the Fight (the Producer and I had some cool discussions on the name so we called it both) wa written after a fight with a loved one. I think we can all relate to feeling so angry and frustrated that the first person to come along who we know won’t hate us are the one’s who cop it. of course, letting someone elses’ words or action dictate how you feel is just plain silly. Be in control. If someone says you are an idiot, ask the best person to know if it is true, that person is YOU! How do they know what you really are? How Could they?
Different timezones was written about the weird way we have War on one side of the world while the rest of us sit in traffic? it’s hard to understand if you think about it. We have Billions spent on killing our own species while the other side of the world complkain about not enough staff in Hospitals, or how our steak is cooked. At least we have a Hospital and steak to eat. We don’t have to walk down to get the milk and worry if our legs are going to get blown off so I think we should be grateful for how lucky we are. of course, I dont like giving a third of my income to Politicians who just commit Murder and borrow it to buy themselves a house, or put 1 Million Dollars worth of fuel in a Navy ship, knowing full well it all has to be emptied when they reach the fisrst port. I can piss my own money up the wall without the help of so-called leaders.

last but not least is Sleep Knowing. being about closure, it fits to be the last song on the Album. All those old relationships that pass through your mind when you go through a change. Then you feel you have to ring that ex-partner to discuss what the issues were, only to find by the end of the conversation, you find out they are fine, but it is you who isn’t ok with it all, proving the problem is inside, not external. Just like most problems are.
